FS: '68 Hofner 500/8-BZ with built in fuzz

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD.
For sale is my '68 Hofner 500/8-BZ in very good condition. It is all original and plays and sounds great, has low action, with little to no fret wear. This double cut-away, short scale (30.5") German made hollow body bass has a solid spruce arched top, maple sides, and a flamed maple arched back. It has a built-in preamp with seperate bass boost and fuzz controls, as well as a 3-way pickup selector with master volume and tone controls. I've owned this bass for more than 20 years, but since I have way too many basses right now, it's time to let someone else enjoy it. (NO trade offers please) Back in 1968, this model was much more expensive than the 500/1 Beatle bass ($150 dollars more!) It is in very condition for its age, with the usual scratches, checks and dings for a 42 year old instrument. The only thing missing is the black pickguard (I never had it). I never had a case for it, but it will be packed very well (double boxed) so as not to incur any damage in transit. asking $1000.00 OBO + actual shipping in the contUSA. paypal is fine.

it's pretty gnarly. i think it kinda sounds like a germanium fuzz face. it sounds very cool to me.

Price lowered $200, NOW $1000+ shipping.

She's a vintage beauty alright...looks like a real player... I'm droolin too. I don't see the serial number though. If I'm not mistaken, I think Hofner put a sticker on back of the headstock? How lame could they be. Guess they didn't know how well these would stand the test of time.

yeah, the serial number was a sticker on the back of the headstock these basses, and it was long gone before i acquired the bass.

Machts nichts on the sticker amigo. As I said before, Hofner was sooooo lame in doing that. Fact remains, she's obviously the Real McCoy & I'm I'm still droolin over her. I'm cash poor like most everyone else, but & I did just sell an LP... for not quite as much as you're asking, but close. How's about I shoot you an offer?
