PRICE DROP TO SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, you don't see these much on TB or at all for that matter.
For sale is my 70's Cortez Jazz bass. For the uninitiated, Cortez basses were the precursor to Cort. These instruments were made in Japan and of the highest quality as consistent with instruments from the heyday of Japanese guitar making.
There is an article by Michael Wright who writes The Different Strummer column for vintage guitar magazine which details a little bit about the history. Here is a link:

Anyway, as you see this is a 70's style Jazz bass, all original and in pretty darn good shape with some slight dings here and there as pictured, mostly just compression. Overall, a very aesthetically pleasing instrument and I believe the white scratched can be buffed out as they appear to be drywall or some such.
The bass has black block inlays and a bound neck which is so smooth that it looks painted on but I am pretty sure it is binding as there is a slight chip on the binding near the nut which does not result in bare wood but rather what look like black plastic.
The original ashtray covers were removed but are easily replaced and the screws are still in place.
This has the Fender style headstock with Fender style font where it reads "Electric Bass." Some would advertise this as "lawsuit" but in fact there was no lawsuit, just a lot of copying going on in those days.
This bass is a tonal beast. Very big bottom. Lots of booty and growl. I do have MP3 if you are interested.
I am asking !!!SOLD!!!!, shipped CONUS which is a below where I have seen some of these trade on ebay. If you are hankering for a vintage 70's Fender Jazz, or even a newer Geddy, this bass gets you the looks, attitude and tone for way less coin. I can't say enough great things about the bass and I will sorely miss her, but I need to collect some scheckles for an older P bass so this one is going.
Please PM if you have any questions.
Pics below, thanks for looking.
