FS: 73 Fender Jazz and 79 Fender Precision

I have continued to buy pro audio equipment for my sound business and am starting to realize that these bills aren't going to go away on their own......

These are the last two basses I've gotten so they are the first to go on the chopping block. I'm not going to say that I wouldn't consider a trade but it would have to be pretty special for me to forget about my bills

1973 Fender Jazz

This is the third time that I've picked up a Jazz only realize (again) that I'm just not a jazz guy. This bass plays really well and has been played a LOT. As per usual, after buying the bass, I took it to Chef and he did his magic on it.

I tried to illustrate the wear on the body and the frets in the pictures. The original owner wore a hole through the finish above the pickguard and then covered the area with stickers. The stickers have been removed but left a haze on the finish that may be able to be buffed out. The back of the neck is in very good condition. Everything other than the badass and pickups appear to be original. There is an additional bridge in the case that the previous owner said was original but seeing that it is brass, I doubt this is the case. I haven't been able to establish what kind of pickups are in it but they sound really good. FWIW, the previous owner claims to have purchased it from the original owner in the UK about 15 years ago. It is wearing rounds but I'm not sure what kind they are.

I'm at a loss at to what to ask for this bass given the replaced bridge and pickups. I've seen non-original 70's jazzes go in the $2000 range. How does $1800 shipped sound?

1979 Fender Precision

The is a really clean example of a modified 1979 Precision. The route for the jazz pickup is clean and was obviously done by a professional. The pickups are US Fender, but not original to the bass. The body and neck are extremely clean with very few bumps & bruises for a 30+ year old bass. It will ship with both tortoise and black pickguards and is currently wearing LaBella light gauge flats.

$1400 shipped

Those are beautiful, I'd take the Precision if I could afford it. Good luck with the sales mate!

Thanks!

Trust me, I would love to keep the precision but I can't afford it either. I am definitely a precision guy and love that the jazz pickup allows me to add a bit more bite and definition to the classic p sound. I probably end up with another PJ at some point but I HATE being in debt.

Actually, I wouldn't mind keeping the jazz either, if only so that I can play it every once in a while and remember that I don't like jazzes

I owned this Precision and when I had Lindy Fralin pickups in it, I loved the tone I got from the bass. Bump for my old bass, why did I get involved in a three way trade.

more pms returned on the precision. I'm a bit surprised in that I thought the jazz was going to be the more popular of the two.

still getting nibbles on the precision but little interest on the jazz. Feel free to pm me if you think the price on the jazz is way out of bounds.....I just took a stab.

I did the setup on the Jazz, and it's a bada** mofo.
If I were a four string guy I would kept it.

Currently on hold. Deal for both basses looks like it will likely go through.
