FS: 80's Steinberger XP-A (Low Impendance/Active Pickups) - Very Cool!

I have for sale an 80's (an '87 I think) Steinberger XP-A bass. You know the one....small body, headless...very 80's, and very cool.

I am the 2nd owner, and the 1st owner took very good care of this bass. It is all original and has low impedance/active pickups. There are a couple of dings in the body, some wear on the back, and a crack in the pickguard (* Note - I have been informed this is not a crack, but the opening to the battery compartment - DUH!), but overall it is in terrific shape. The neck is flawless and the frets are in good shape. It will come with a very heavy duty Calzone flight case and a gig bag.

Although I love the look and sound, for some reason I just can't get used to how it plays....it's a little uncomfortable for me. I'm more of a traditional Fender "strap-on-the horn" kind of guy. Not to mention, it looks like my job may be moving to a different state, which means I may have to relocate (what a drag), so I'm getting ready to sell off some of my basses to make the move a little easier.

Price is $775 $749 shipped to anywhere in the lower 48....payment via PayPal or a USPS Money Order.

Because I may be moving, I'm not really looking for any trades, although I may accept a Markbass New York 121 speaker cab in partial trade.

By 'crack in the pickguard' are you talking about by the bridge, where your arm would rest?

That's not a 'crack' - on the XP-A (active) models, that's the section of the pickguard you can unscrew and lift up to get to the battery.


But if you still think it's a 'defect', I'd be happy to take the bass off your hands for say.... $400.....

I guess your quote of the day describes me pretty well. I didn't even think of the battery compartment. I just saw the crack and assumed the worst. I'm one of those people who tries to describe every little flaw so someone is not surprised. Thanks for pointing that out....and thanks for the $400 offer.
