FS: '97 Warwick Thumb B.O. with Slim all WENGE neck!

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is my 1997 Warwick Thumb bolt-on bass. It has the sought after all wenge neck plus the slim neck profile. The body is made of bubinga. The bass is in excellent condition with just some minor nicks and a shallow scratch on the back which can be seen in the picture (all blemishes can easily be buffed out). The neck in great shape and plays fast. The stock MEC electronics sound great and easily get that classic growly Thumb sound. I recently acquired a limited edition '03 Blonde (all maple) Thumb bass. Admittedly, I like the sound and playability this '97 Thumb better but since my back is not in great shape I decided to let this one go as the blonde thumb weighs only about 7lbs! Not to mention I have a number of high end basses and it's time to move out some that are not getting played. Please contact me with any questions.

Asking $1100 $1000 plus shipping.

Open to reasonable offers. Also, would consider cash plus a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0.

Happy 4th!

Man, if only my sales would be done so that I could pick this up. Exactly what I'm looking for in a Thumb.

anyone know if that higher neck pickup changes the sound? i usually see thumbs with both pickups near the bridge and would think that would add to a more aggressive tone, with this be a little different?

From what I understand, the higher (horizontal) neck pick-up is standard on 4-string Thumbs. For the 5-strings, the neck pick-up is closer to the bridge and also slightly diagonal like the bridge pick-up. I'm not sure why Warwick decided on this design difference, but the further away from the bridge the pick up is the deeper the output sound is, generally speaking.

Consider a trade plus cash for either a 2000 Fender Precision American Deluxe, Ibanez Iceman Basss, or a MarkBass F1?

Not really interested in trades. Let me ask my roommate about the P-bass. He says he wants one of those. Can you send me pics?

While asking your roommate, see if there's any interest in an 83 g&l sb-1 (single coil p bass) in vg cond or an 84 g&l l-1000 in exc cond....

Perhaps he's into other p-family basses?
