Definitely needs a fret job on one or two frets other than that plays OK. The action is low for an acoustic so you may have raise it but to do this you would need to get a new "bridge nut". So I guess you could say this bass needs a setup from a tech. For a $100 bass what do you expect kinda like an SX but only acoustic. This bass has a 3 band eq bass mid treble along w volume and a built in tuner.

As far as I know this one was made in Taiwan/China There is nothing on it to indicate that but...
