FS: Another Fun Project! Ibanez Roadstar II RB888 (Bean Bass) MIJ $100.00 OHSC

Well, up for grabs is another fun project. I am getting rid of my guitar stuff and a friend traded me this for an acoustic guitar that I was selling. This is a really cool little bass and it has a good sound to it as well. The bass needs some TLC to truly shine and that's where you come in.

The bass: Ibanez Roadstar II Series RB888 which is known as the "Bean Bass". The bass has a nice green finish, but in photos it looks black. There's also a sparkle to it, which I like. The pickup sounds good and the toggle switch works. The bass is light and small and would make a great travel bass!

The bass needs a thorough cleaning. Finish and electronics both.

Things to mention:

Paint chips and dings as pictured. This is a bass from the 1980s it is no where near mint. Tons of mojo!

A crack near the E string tuner. The bass had strings on it and it was in tune. The original owner guaranteed me that it hasn't spread or been a problem since he's owned the bass (8 years).

The D string tuner has some play in it. If you work with it, you might be able to get it tuned to pitch but it needs work or replacing for sure.

Price for this beauty? $100.00 shipped!

This is how it looked when I received it:

I took the DEAD strings off of it and cleaned it a little. Here are those pics:

I understand that.

This is a neat little bass! Pickup has a great sound to it and the neck is straight. If I needed a 4 and wasn't such a bear of a man, I would keep this around.

These are 34 scale - at least the one I have is. Great necks. Great pickup - it's basically a passive MM bass. Sounds great.

Love this generation of Ibanez bridges too.

I also must say that the price on this is better than good.

I believe it's 34, but it is short looking.

Case does come with it!

Here's an Ebay auction for one in February. It's in better condition but it went for 450.00!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-RB888-Roa...#ht_500wt_1287

Even as a fixer upper this is a bargain!

Not at home just yet, but i'll measure it. It felt wider than the SR bass necks. More P bassish.

You're making me work hard for this $100.00
