So I just bought this from Guitar Center in Southfield, MI (Detroit area) and had them ship it to me. I asked a bunch of questions of the guy on the phone before I bought it, including "are the electronics original?" and he said yes. It arrives and I find out the pickups are EMGs. Now, EMGs are great, but they're not really "my" sound. Furthermore, this is one of the earlier Roadstar IIs with the 2x2 headstock and I was hoping for a 4-in-line one. Granted, the pictures I saw were only of the body so I shouldn't have assumed...
Anyway - it's up for sale. It's a "converted lefty" which means it's technically a right-handed bass, but the nut and strings were reversed to make it a lefty. Also, the upper horn strap peg was moved to the other side. It'll need a new righty nut (I have a brass one I can throw in for free but I'm not sure if it will fit) and a setup, but it should be a fairly simple switch. Or maybe there's a lefty bass brother craving a piece of vintage Ibanez action...
I took off the strings and tossed them in the trash because they were old, nasty, and most people like to use their own strings.
The bass is in pretty good shape overall - definitely better than the last Roadstar I owned. The body has some chips which I tried to get in the pictures. The frets are a little sharp in a few places, mainly up high on the board, but there's plenty of fret life. The solid brass bridge (a really cool feature) is worn and tarnished in spots. And of course, the pickups are non-original.
I'll take
$250 + shipping o.b.o. in the lower 48. No case or gig bag but it will be well packaged.
I will ship internationally if you pay the actual cost.
Looking for a quick sale so I can buy the Roadstar I want... (still kicking myself for selling that last one - since then I've joined a band that it would be PERFECT for...)
No trades - unless you have a black 4-in-line Ibanez Roadstar (or Blazer) with a MAPLE board.
I would also be willing to swap my 2x2 neck for someone's maple-board 4-in-line neck (assuming they are interchangeable.) I'll even pay a few $$ toward having the new nut put on (assuming you go to a luthier.)
PICS!
