FS: Aria Pro II CSB-450 Cardinal/Club Bass Set Neck!

Sign in to disble this ad
$$$$Price drop to $375 OBO$$$$

For sale is one of my Aria CSB450 basses. I have a few of these old Cardinals and need to fund other acquisitions so this is another one up for grabs.

This is the deluxe version of the bass played by Kim Deal of the Pixies. Medium scale at 820mm or just over 32 inches, one very hot hum cancelling Aria pickup, volume and tone. Made in Japan in the legendary Matsumoku factory.

This one is a 1982. What makes this the deluxe model is the set neck construction and the tobacco finish which is applied to the entire body, neck and headstock.

The bass is overall in great shape. Some small dings on the front, side and back of the body are pictured. All are small and the ones through the wood are few, small and pretty well hidden. This bass is missing the truss rod cover but a no frills blank in cream color would be a close replacement for the original.

These basses are aboslutely a blast to play. They are light, easy to play, well balanced, and they absolutely get you that Duran Duran tone (think the first album) if you want it as the pickup is the same as the one on the SB600 and SB700 save for it is not sealed.

And if you want to hear this model in action listen to "Gigantic" by the Pixies, though this one has better sustain vs. the bolt neck models due to the "best of both worlds" set neck deisgn.

I am asking $395 for this bass shipped in a hard case anywhere in the CONUS. No international sales, sorry.

Pics below. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking.

RBM

I love Cardinals bump - one of the all time favorites. Sold my 300 a while back and have regretted it since. Man I wish I had something for you. Beauty of a bass!

Light as a feather and well balanced. My guess would be 8 lbs tops but stay tuned for an exact weight...

My Bolt-On CSB-300 is a Svelt 7.7 Lbs, so 8 should be in the ballpark!

Thumbs up Now living in Wisconsin.

The bass arrived this morning, well packed and safe! I've only got a 1/2 - 3/4 hour in on the bass. It's condition is much better in person than the photos would have you believe. Roger's photos showed everything, so kudos on that.

As I PM'ed Roger, the Cardinal's sound is very different than my Birdsong. I'm going over my band's set list for our July 4th show. There are several songs where this baby will be the s**t.

The biggest surprise to me is how well the bass hangs on the strap. I know that Roger has at least one other bass for sale on the Forum.

Buy with confidence!

Mark from Wisco.
