This is a 2010 NAMM Bass. Retail on this bass is $4100 as configured.
This is one of the new double cut models, also with the new "B neck", which he also calls the pyramid neck. That's because it's two pieces of walnut over three pieces of (flamed) maple, so the seams overlap in a pyramid way. Makes the neck very strong despite its particularly slender profile from front to back.
It's a 34" scale, 24 frets, feathered walnut top, lightweight mahogany body, heavily flamed maple board (bound in ebony I believe), and has 18mm spacing. It's LIGHT... my BR scale shows 7.9lbs!!!. It has a pair of his custom dual coil pickups (with logo'd wood covers), so they're humbucking, and the proprietary Benavente two band preamp with a passive tone control and passive bypass. It's also currently vol-vol. It has hipshot ultralight tuners and A style bridge, and embedded dunlop style straplok receptacles. It comes with a Pro-Tec Contego case.
The playability of this bass is totally off the chain. Stoopid easy to play. Ridiculous. The tone is a fairly even cross between hippie sammich modern and a J bass, and it's particularly punchy. Strong in the low mids and a sweet sizzle up top. Bounce back and forth between fingerstyle and slap without touching a knob. Very sweet yet also very present high end without being harsh at all. The Passive tone is also the passive bypass control, which I like.
Bottom line is, this is a drop dead beautiful bass with tone and playability to match. Seriously. IMHO is the most beautiful bass Ive ever seen. Im selling only because Im in a cash bind and its the last one in...first one out. Its a work of art....absolutely flawless craftsmanship
