FS: Black 1976 Gibson The Ripper - Vintage Bass with some mods.
Selling my Ebony 1976 Gibson “The Ripper” bass. It is in great condition for a 37 year old instrument - the finish is intact (save some scratches and buckle rash). I have almost all the original parts, including OHSC, and it has a mod:
* More Pics *
- The original pickguard was cracked from age when I received it, so I had a new white one built by a local repair shop, along with a matching TR cover. I have OTRC, but not the PG (it was in pieces).
- Had a Seymour Duncan Baselines MM pickup/preamp installed. The original pickup in the neck position isn’t wired - just there for cosmetics. [s]I recently moved but I am pretty sure I can put my hands on[/s] I have the bridge pickup, the chicken-head knob, and I have the 3 original speed knobs.
- I’ll need to check the cavity and see if any routing was done when installing the MM - if there was it was pretty minimal.
- I never had the original bridge cover.
It was my first bass, given to me by an extended uncle in 1999, and it has been stowed in a closet for the past 10 years. This will need a setup as I haven’t played it in forever.
Asking [s]$1175.00[/s] [s]reduced: $1100.00[/s] $1050.00 (includes shipping to CONUS).
Update: I found the bridge pup, chicken-head knob, speed knobs, original pots, etc:
I’ll be looking through some boxes to confirm I have the bridge pickup, chickenhead knob, and original pots.
Thanks p0k! I loved it back when I was playing it. But I’m looking to finance my first bass build, so I don’t want to hang onto it gathering dust.
Success! I found a box with the original electronics. I’ll catalogue them and update the original post with what all I found. I believe it will cover all original parts, minus the pickguard and bridge cover.
if you ever want to get rid of the bridge pup, just let me know.
altamont - will do, though I don’t think I’ll be parting it out.
Update: checkout the OP with reduced price and picture of the original electronics.
This is a terrific bass. Iím open to offers - go ahead and make them.
Reduced! $1050.00 shipped to the continental USA.
Letís sell this here before I have to move it to the íbay.
