FS Blade Tetra Standard with Basslines NEW PIX!

Sign in to disble this ad
This is the nicest playing bass I have ever owned. Great, fast neck, low action...lightweight body. Wonderful workmanship and a real head turner. But even with the Basslines, it is still just a smidge too hifi for my pedestrian tastes (although it cops a good vintage Jbass sound, with more sounds added in).

If you don't know Blade or Wilkinson, check their rep on TB or elsewhere on the web. These a seriously great instruments. Here is a link to my exact bass

http://www.bladeguitars.com/models/n..._standard.html

This one has NO bumps, dings or marks. Virtually in showroom condition. I will toss in the original JS-1 Alnicos. Comes with the Blade soft-sided hard case, which is also mint. Sorry for the crummy pix, replete with flash flaring and fingerprints. But it looks just like the one on their website.

$750 shipped in the lower 48.

Levinson, not Wilkinson. Gary Levinson.

For uninitiated, 1.5 width at the nut, 10 inch radius board.

Nice bass. Good luck.

Thanks

I guess Blade made me think of "sword" and Wilkinson. Not Levinson. Thanks for the pickup.

And thanks for the non-cosmetic bump.

FWIW, the PUs are SJB-3 Quarter Pounders.

also FWIW, I really don't "need" any basses (other than Chef's Brad Houser and he doesn't want to trade...or possibly a Lull 5 string). But if you have a PJ configured bass of four or five strings with unearthly low end, I could be interested and have some cash to add to the deal, if necessary.

Thanks for the bump.

Note that this is an active/passive bass (push/pull tone control engages the preamp).

I will take better, bigger pix tomorrow and try to post them. I will also weigh the bass, but it is very light and well balanced.

If you were in Europe I'd have bought it.

Blade

Thanks. I was in Holland six months ago. I could have brought it with me. I will ship to Europe if you want. But it would be costly, I guess.

Yeah, that would be a bit pricey, so I guess I have to let this pass by...

Blade

Actually, I first played a Blade in a music store in Amsterdam. Came back here and bought one. Used it last night at a rehearsal to great band member reaction. Maybe I should keep it.

I would do that if I had the choice. I had a B1, sold it and now forever regret it.

B-1

Don't seem to be many offers here. Chances are, I would keep it anyway. But I am realizing that the sound (in the mix) really is
"vintage". It is just the most easy-to-play bass I have had.

If you do keep it, try running it through a Sadowsky preamp.

For selling purposes, it should be mentioned that the tone control has a push pull feature that kicks in a preamp. It is a mid boost that you preset through the small access panel on the back. When you want to take a solo, pop the knob out, get a volume boost and a thich mid sound for your solo. Tap the knob in when done.

Also, the controls are Vol/Bal/Tone.

I use 5 string version of the same bass from several weeks in my rock band and I like it very much. With a little mid boost and with tone half rolled off it cuts really well - thick, growly and defined.
Will try it with Sadowsky preamp, I'm curious what will be the result.

Bump!

Will leave this for another week or so. These basses are big in Europe for good reason. Swiss workmanship, American sound.
