I have had this bass for several years and it has served me very well. It was custom built for it's previous owner by luthier Michael Dolan. The only chenges I have made is that I swapped the original Fender PUs out for a set of Kent Armstong PUs. A also had the body and pickguard routed out so the truss rod can be adjusted without having to remove the neck.
Here is a description of this beautiful bass from it's previous owner:
This bass was custom built to my specs by Michal Dolan. (http://www.dolanguitars.com/). Everything, with the exception of the Fender Decal on the headstock (which he was reluctant to do), was handled by him. The decal was added professionally locally. Visually this is a closet classic, not a 'relic' with dents, etc. I wanted to go for a Fender Custom Shop style instrument but thought $3,000 and change was a bit excessive.
The body wood is two piece Alder, lightweight. This is an early 60's style which has very smooth contours. The fretboard is palisander rosewood, a brighter, sweet smelling wood, that is very close tonally to Brazilian rosewood. The neck wood is the most beautiful piece of HIGHLY figured birdseye maple I have ever seen in my life.
There is mild vintage tint to the wood as well, which plays great against the nitro paintjob. This is a custom built neck from Dolan, one of a kind. The Calham clay dots in the fretboard are aged as well, and the neck is equipped with Fender reverse wind tuners. Neck profile is modern and a cross between a "C" and a "D". Satin finish and easy to play. Plays great of course.
The wiring is VVT, with a twist. The Tone knob can pull out to give you that P type thump when needed. It's fully shielded and nice and quiet for a jazz bass.
The only flaw in this bass is some very small marks in the nitro on the back. It was from my belt buckle during a photo shoot. That's it.
Weight of this bass is 9 lbs. and 1 ounce. Asking $1,499.00 including shipping in the CONUS
