FS: Carl Thompson 6 Fretless

This bass is in perfect condition and is an absolute piece of art... playable art. I bought it used, three years ago from the original owner. I had Carl install a bridge pup and replace the EMG pup with Kent Armstrongs wired passively. Only reason to sell is that it hangs on my wall, and isn't gigged. I play it almost everyday, but my other bass is my primary. I'm in the process of getting rid of unused equipment, so selling this is a possibility, only if the deal is good enough.

Specs:
36" scale
Mahogany body
Pitch black Ebony with a Padauk center top
Cocobolo with a Padauk center back
Mahogany neck with Bloodwood stripes
Ebony fingerboard with Bloodwood and Mahogany stripes
Ziracote pup covers
8lbs(give or take a few oz)

The tone is, IMO, the quintessential fretless tone. Great mids, plenty of lower end and clear. It's a Mwah monster. The bass is adjustable by the pickup switch. For a Passive bass it is incredibly loud, not to mention the scale length adds to the thunderous bottom end.

There is SO much custom woodwork on this bass. It is an absolute stunning bass.

The Playability is superb. Despite it's scale length, it is so easy to play you don't even realize how long it really is.

Asking price: $8000/OBO shipped to lower 48. It comes with deluxe gigbag. I will ship internationally if the buyer pays for shipping.

Only trades (+cash) I will consider are: Carl Thompson 4 or 5, Fodera YYS or YYD, Fodera Monarch 4, Fodera MGS, maybe a Sadowsky NYC fretless

$8,000 is basically equivalent to a used car loan. lol I'm not knocking the price at all. I am well aware of the value of a Carl Thompson, especially a 6-string Rainbow bass. Geez, even if I divide the price by 12 months, it still works out to $666+ per month (evil number, indeed.) If I ever won a major lottery, I would go through the TB classifieds & do a major cleanup of fine instruments. Of course I would remain humble; used are always the best bargains.

Is this bass heading to The Low End, or is that just another Carl 6 string fretless?

I was trying to sell it here, but I'm now planning on sending it to the Low End(I just made that decision today). The one he has listed as incoming must be another.

This one's out of my league, but I wanted to say that Nick is a great guy, honest, and easy to deal with. Does exactly what he says he will do. I have bought from him before and would again in a heartbeat.

Merry Christmas, Nick, and again thanks for your service, brother.

Best.
