Sign in to disble this ad
This is a rock-solid instrument with a silky tung oil finish on both neck and body. Action is low and fast, and it sounds great active or passive. Comes in a Carvin hardshell case.

I purchased this bass new as a kit (BK5A) back in 2004. Here are the details...

bolt-on neck, 34-inch scale
single-piece mahogany body
graphite-reinforced maple neck with mahogany headstock overlay
ebony fingerboard, side dots only
neck is 1.75" wide @ nut, 2.70" wide @ 22nd fret
black hardware
Hipshot™ B-style bridge string-through-body
Carvin premium tuners, 20:1 ratio
22 medium-jumbo frets
MM-style humbucker at bridge and J99A single coil
active electronics, master volume with push-pull switch for passive mode, pickup blend, 3-band EQ, and coil tap switch for humbucker
Dunlop strap locks
weight: 8.5 pounds

Price is $425 PayPal or cash. I will ship for free to the lower 48 in its original box, or we can arrange a pickup if you are in the St. Louis area.

Thanks for looking!

Do you know the string spacing at the bridge? Currently these have 19 mm spacing but it used to be closer. Not sure when they changed it.

Good question. This bridge has 17mm spacing.

Just a note, but did you happen to order this with the wide neck option? Last time I talked to Carvin, they said you could only get a 19mm bridge if you ordered the wide neck, which is right about 3" wide at the last fret. This one is 2.7" at the last fret, which came with a 17mm bridge standard. Just wondering for future reference...

Also, how are the B strings on these, especially with the tapered strings?

Since you asked, I went back and double-checked the string spacing. It turns out my string spacing is 21/32-inch, or 17mm. Must have not been awake yet when I looked before. This was definitely standard, not wide.

The B-string sounds great on this bass... much better than on the StingRay 5 I played for awhile.
