FS Carvin Icon5 Flametop - pick your preamp

I couldn't edit my original post...

Need to move out some stuff and this Carvin just isn't getting any love lately...
Red flame maple top, 5-piece neck in very good condition (the blue one is not for sale)!

I replaced the original Carvin preamp with an Audere 4-band pre, which sounds much, much better to my ears (clearer is the way I'm hearing the difference, though the Carvin pre in passive mode is nearly the same as the Audere) - 18 volts.
The only issue with the bass is that the clear coat is flaking off just around the tuning keys (I'll get some pics posted tonight)

With the Audere pre: $750 shipped CONUSA
With the Carvin pre: $650 shipped CONUSA

Paypal accepted

Standard spacing, which I think for Carvin is 17.5 mm
It is NOT wide-spacing (19 mm)

I was taking some more pics for a potential buyer, so I thought I would post the worst of the chipping (on the g-string tuner) and I completely forgot about a little bit occurring behind the E-string (the bass has been on my wall for about 9 - 12 months - just a couple of recordings with it). I do remember the bass having the chipping behind the E string when I bought it, but I just completely forgot about it.
thanks!

nice bass, looks like a bargain since someone else is selling a very similar bass for double what you're asking.

According to the Carvin site 9.25 lbs.

The bass doesn't feel heavy at all - I'll get it on the bathroom scale later on
thx

How would you describe the soapbars in it character wise? Similar to anything recognizable for comparison's sake?

Tonal vibe of the bass? Vintage, Modern, Thumpy, Punchy, etc (insert over used buzzwords of choice here)

Creamy and smooth comes to mind; modern also comes to mind. I've posted some clips so you can judge for yourself - direct into a FireStudio Project --> Adobe Audition. No filters, effects, compression, EQ, etc. Only the last sample (around 1:45) is running through an Ampex SVX plug-in to give you an idea of how it may sound amplified. - the only edit was to try to get the sound levels the same on each sample.

http://www.mediafire.com/?06rx6c26dtdjmy6

Here's the breakdown of the mp3 file (approx times):
Passive Neck: 0 - 0:15
Passive Both: 0:15 - 0:29
Passive Bridge: 0:30 - 0:48
Active Neck: 0:49 - 1:06
Active Both 1:06 - 1:28
Active Bridge: 1:28 - 1:45
Passive Neck w/ SVX: 1:45 - End

Excuse my sloppy playing (you'll hear my fingers hitting the pickups and resting on the low b) - hey, I'm way out of practice

Thanks!
