FS Conklin GT-7 Groove Tools 7-string bass wine red

Sign in to disble this ad
This is my Conklin GT-7 Groove Tools 7 string bass guitar in wine red. It is all stock, which means it features a quilted maple top, swamp ash body, purpleheart fretboard, and a 7 piece wenge neck with 3 purpleheart stripes and dual 2-way truss rods. It features 2 active Bartolini pickups and 2-band EQ. It has been my main bass for the last 6 years. I just recently ordered a new instrument, and have to sell to finance the new, otherwise I'd keep this!

I came from using a Carvin 5-string, and I got used to this bass very quickly. If you have played 6ers or 7s before, you'll love the contour of this neck. It is extremely comfortable and thin...the best I've ever felt on a 7. If you've never played a 7, I'd venture to say that you can adjust quickly. I had not played one until I played this bass, and I instantly fell in love with the 7 and ordered a custom built 7-string. As a matter of fact, years after I received that custom-built $3,000+ dollar bass (if you want to know the builder, PM me, but I'm keeping the name out of this public posting), when it came down to it, I ended up selling that one and keeping this Conklin because the feel on this bass is so great. The Bartolini pickups sound fantastic, and the preamp has lots of headroom. The bass has just 2 small surface scratches, and they are both on the back, so no one will see them. Again, they are only surface scratches in the clearcoat. See the last two pics. Otherwise, this bass is in great condition for its age - no nicks, dents, chips (of clearcoat, wood, or anything else). This is a lot of bass for an affordable price. I will throw in a used gig bag (not pictured) and make sure this is secured with sturdy packaging. I have shipped many instruments, with hard cases, gig bags, and no cases...and all have arrived in great shape. I pack it as I would want my instruments shipped to me.

On 'the evil bay' right now for 850 + shipping, but I'd much rather sell it to a TBer for the discounted price of 750 shipped, obo. Shoot me your offer.

No trade interest right now as I have my eye on something. Thanks.

How well do these basses balance? Any neckdive?

It depends on the style of strap you use. I use a neoprene-filled strap and I find standing and playing to be quite comfortable. My least favorite thing about this bass (which, overall, I am very fond of) is the small lower horn for sitting and playing. For me, I wish it were an inch longer. It's still plenty comfortable to sit and play, though, as I've done several hundred hours of church rehearsal and performance sitting down.
