!!!SOLD!!!
For sale is my Cort B2A Headless bass in great condition.
This is the active version, part of what they called the "Performer Series." Pains me to let this go as I searched over 5 years for one, but I have been purging some of my collection as I am having serious space constraint issues.
This bass is the sister to the Hohner B2A which many including myself regard as the best Steinberger made. There are a couple of key differences here that make the Cort B2A unique and in my opinion a cooler bass:
- The Cort B2A has a slightly curved body which obviates the need for the folding leg-rest featured in the standard Steinberger "cricket bat" or "canoe oar" design.
-Pickups are EMG select P/J configuration for more tonal variety and traditional sound when needed.
This bass also features the killer pre-amp present in the Hohner B2A and other active Hohners. There is a stacked knob for treble and bass boost, a passive/active switch, there is an LED light indicating when the bass is in active mode, and in the back of the bass, there is a trim bot to control the pre-amp level. This this has PRESENCE!
As you can see by the pics, this bass is in very clean condition, which is pretty rare as these Corts were considered "cheap knockoffs" back in the day and many you see nowadays have been beaten up pretty badly. There is no excess wear here to speak of!
Everything works great on the bass, and I recently gave it a setup including a truss-rod tweak. She's tip-top!
Only two blemishes and both are very slight-- finish wear around the upper strap button from strap ends as pictured (this was common of these basses, as well as wood bodied steinbergers) and I made a replacement battery cover from a template, i.e. photocopy of the bass (if you look closely at the pictures yotu can see the rough edges, etc.-- anyone can clean this up or start over and do a better job than me).
I am asking $SOLD shipped CONUS, obo. Given the condition of this bass and what the Hohners go for these days, I think that is a very fair price, but I will entertain any and all reasonable offers. I do not have a case for this one unfortunately, but any guitar gig bag, or a rifle case longer than 41" will do!
Thanks for looking, and please feel free to PM me with any questions.
