FS -Cort/Elrick JPS 5-String

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD ****For the price, this is a whole lot of bass. After a few flings at fivers, I've decided I can handle them but I just want to stay with fours only. The great features of the JPS 5 are the thin, flat neck (built for comfort), passive/active option and light weight. This one is very clean, except for a surface scratch on the back that doesn't come through well on pictures and some surface swirls etc. that you can only see when you are holding the bass close. Here's the specs:

* 35”Scale
* 19mm string spacing at the bridge
* 24-fret bolt-on neck
* Ash body
* Quilted maple top
* Rosewood board
* Bartolini MK1 passive pickups
* Demeter Preamp! vol/pan/treble/mids/lows
* Fishman pop-up battery compartment
* Pull up volume knob for passive bypass
* Comes in a padded gig bag

Will sell and ship to CONUS only. Asking $500 OBO, including insured shipping. No trades please.

I didn't know these existed... so are these basses basically an offshore Elrick?

Yes, I think they are based on a U.S. Elrick model and were made in Korea. I've had at least 3 of them in red, green and natural. They are light weight and very well made IMHO. I've seen some nicely upgraded w/ Nordstrand pups and Audere preamps. Others are probably more informed than I, so don't quote me.

Kind of ... these Cort/Elricks are a bit different than their handmade brethren ... narrower width @ nut, slightly thicker body, belly contour isn't as pronounced, about a pound +/- heavier. The overall neck shape is close ... probably due to the difference in nut width.

With a bit of hot-rodding ... could be a very close 2nd to the handmade ones. I'd liken them to the Kingston KZ line of MTD's vs. the handmade ones.

All in all ... it's a whole lotta bass for the $$. Any Elrick fans will be pleased, IMO.
