FS: Custom Built 1966 Fender Jazz Bass Replica

I commissioned John Kallas to build me this bass a little more than a year ago. I took delivery of it last March. It's the equivalent of a Fender Custom Shop 66 Jazz Bass but better IMO.

John learned how to build basses from Leo Fender when he worked with him back in the '70's. His skill and knowledge of bass building is unmatched and this is a prefect example of what can be created when you actually "know" what you are doing and have the experience and talent to make it a reality!

Here is a link to John's web site: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/index.html

I am forced to offer this up for financial reasons. I really wish I didn't have to. I paid $1,900.00 for it less than a year ago. It's in virtually mint condition with only some VERY MINOR signs of wear that are impossible to photograph. There are no dings of any kind on the instrument!!! Also in case you can't tell, the color is a perfect Fiesta Red.

I'm not going to discount this bass from my selling price so please don't ask. It's worth every penny I assure you! I'm also not interested in any trades. If it doesn't sell, well I'll just keep it.

It is by far the most resonant instrument I have ever owned. It's also the loudest passive bass I have ever played. It has special design Duncan pickups that totally nail the vintage tone we are all after but they deliver it with more punch and clarity.

I will ship it in a nice Fender vintage style brown hard shell case that I already had when I bought the bass. I believe this case is from the mid 70's but I'm not certain. The bass originally came to me in a Fender gig bag but it really deserves this case.

Selling price is $1,500.00 and that includes the case as well as shipping and insurance in the lower 48 states.

PayPal is gladly accepted and an echeck would be ideal!

Love it. No cash. Best of luck with sale. Really like the butter bean tuners.

Thanks, yes John built the bass to be 100% accurate for a 1966 vintage. Those "butter bean" tuners were only used in 1966 and part of 1967.

Beautiful bass. Does John actually ship it with the Fender logo? It looks like a few of the basses on his site have the logo too.

I played a white 66 on a visit to the London UK. It was selling for just a few 1000s more. I was born in 66 so a birthday bass would be a cool thing to have.

Yes he does. He may have some kind of waiver with Fender as a result of having actually worked with Leo. I'm only speculating though. I really don't know.
