This is a one of a kind custom built Stambaugh unlined fretless 5. It is without a doubt the best sounding fretless I have owned. The body is one solid piece of wood but I'm not sure what kind of wood it is. According to TB'er "rockosocko" it's Pomelle Bubinga. The board is a beautiful piece of ebony. It has recessed Dunlop style strap locks and sports black hipshot hardware.
It's a 34" scale and it weights in at just under 10 lbs. It's configured with three active Bartolini pickups coupled with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. The tonal variations are virtually endless and it has great character and warmth. Very rich and woody if you want it to to be, or it can be bright and punchy. This bass has it all!
I had additional side dots added to make it easier to play and I think it helped a lot. This bass almost plays itself. $1,675.00 $1,475.00 OBO shipped and insured in the CONUS.
It will ship in a black vintage G&G hard shell case (the one in the photos).
I know fretless basses are not always the hottest item here on the classifieds so if it doesn't sell it won't break my heart. However if you have been looking for a full featured, modern fretless 5, look no further. This one will rock your world!
You can hear it on this track that I recorded with my band Exit 232 (the bass actually starts about 30 seconds into the song so be patient)! http://www.swpyne.com/About_Me_files...Her%20Free.m4a

Maybe one of it's previous owners here on TB will see this post and chime in with some additional details on the wood type. |

The width at the nut is just shy of 1 3/4". I have always found this bass to very comfortable to play. |

Plus one on *lacewood*- I had a fretless 4 Stammie w/a very similar top; Chris was sure it was lacewood(I got it used). Maybe Australian lacewood..?
Hate, hate, hate.

Hate, hate, hate. | Sorry about the "hate" thing but you know the bass "could" be yours! Make me a reasonable offer and you never just never know what might happen!
But thanks for the plus one on the lacewood. You're probably right! |
