I purchased this bass a year ago from a fellow TalkBass Member as I've *always* (literally, since soon after I started playing) had wanted a 10-string coursed bass like Hamer's 8-string, but there was absolutely no production basses in 1995, and a custom was too far from my price range. Soon after I purchased a Bass Whammy and used it's "Octave Up" function as an electronic substitution, and continued on that path over the years (Yamaha MagicStomp EB, E-H POG and currently a Micro Pog) with my "Virtual 10-string" improving dramatically with each generation of efx. However, when the Real Thing finally became available I grabbed it about a year ago.
I came to realize that while the physical sensation is something you can't "simulate", I actually preferred my Micro Pog in that I could trigger it on for parts of a song without having to use the 10-string for the
entirety of it, and that the neck/string-spacing was a *touch* too large for me to play comfortably at speed. Thus I came to the conclusion that I'd rather have someone else get real usage from it: with some Overdrive and a touch of Chorus you've got "Jeremy", with heavier Distortion it's βΘИΞКЯŲŜĦÏИĞ.
SKB molded plastic hardshell case, black Dunlop Straplocks, and Neotech Neoprene Bass Strap included. No gigging while in my possession/all non-smoker ownership. 2 extremely minor nicks on the body, one on the front of the lower horn, one on the back. Given that this is a oil-fiished bass if it's
that big a deal I imagine one could sand them down and reapply the finish, but they're truly small and easily fall into the "can live with" category. Other info from Dean's spec sheet includes:
