I will also consider a trade for another 4-string Dingwall (ABZ, AB1, AB2 though I much prefer wood tone over colors).

Bump for my Dingwall brother. The hunt for the perfect jazz bass ends with Sheldon's Super J's IMO...!

I've got one of these early Super J 4's. My favorite bass ever. The sweetest of slim jazz necks. Just a tad over 8 lb. Killer passive, great active.

I think I read that these basses are routed for a P pu under the pick guard . Anyone know if that's true?

My newer Super J 5 string was routed for the split P style pickup, and I made the swap with no issues. I got to pick a new pickguard, and went with white pearl.

My four string Super looks exactly like the bass in this add except it has the P style pickup.

NaH would have to take a peek under the baltic amber to be sure.

Strung with TI flats, this is the real deal.

Yes, it has been routed to accommodate the P.

I've been playing my Super J-4 for five years now, so I know that the only way NaH can even consider letting this one go is that he's already scored it's equivalent. If players knew just how perfect these are, they'd be selling whatever they can to fund this one. It could make a gear-junkie's life boring though. When there's nothing 'better' left to pursue, you'd have to spend your time practicing and playing!

You are correct - I had to buy another Super J-4 first:

STUNNING!!! Now I understand why you didn't simply install a precision pickup and new guard on this one...

Accidentally was running two threads. See:

FS: Dingwall Super J - 4 String

for the current thread.
