Up for sale is my much beloved Dingwall Super J4 bass. This bass is an incredible groove machine, one that has vibrated many a stage and prompted many people to ask "what's wrong with your frets?" If you're looking at this, you already know about Dingwall basses and the reputation they have. If not, search around and see. I can tell you this is one of my favorite basses I have ever played!
The bass was made in February of 2007, and is Olympic White with a matching headstock. Overall it is in good shape. The neck is quarter sawn, three piece, lightly flamed hard maple. It has the older, and better sounding IMO, 18v Aguilar OBP-1 preamp. The frets are in great shape and I have regularly cleaned and conditioned the beautiful Pau Ferro fingerboard. I replaced the stock E tuner with a Hipshot D-Tuner, the original will be included in the sale as well. Weighs 8.5 lbs.
There is one decent ding (which I have photographed) on the top backside where it was knocked off the stand by a guy at a gig (yes, I did almost get sick watching that happen). Also, the chrome plating on the bridge has come loose in places. Mostly around the E string, but NOT on the saddles or adjustment screws, those are still in great shape; it is purely aesthetic! The bridge has been this way, and not gotten any worse, since I purchased it in 2008. After contacting Sheldon Dingwall about it, he said that it was a factory defect, but it has never given me trouble, so I have never felt the need to replace it. These are the ONLY two problems with the bass and both are aesthetic only.
