Here we have a really great example of an early 80's MIJ Squire SQ Precision Bass, not JV as the heading says (see chatter below). It is a fantastic example of Japanese Fenders, and it is all original. Marks and scuffs are characteristic of its age. There is some cracking on the pick-guard at the tone knob. This guard will eventually fail if not treated with care. Replacements are relatively easy to come by.
If you are looking at this, you know what it is. Please PM me with questions. It comes with a gig bag or a black tolex G+G USA Fender case for an extra $100.00. Price: $450.00 + shipping and packing.
Only trade I am interested in is the current incarnation of the American Standard P-Bass with a maple neck. (trade + cash, obviously)

If it serial # starts with JV#### its a JV series and more rare than an SQ series which the serial number stats with SQ#####. Both are great basses but the JV was a direct Jap RI of the 50's and 60's MIA basses the SQ's were not. Some early JV's sport nitro and used USA parts. Look up the facts on 21frets.com Its is correct with these basses to say if the bass is an JV in series or an SQ in series when selling...just to make a point.
BTW..i have an SQ...great bass even to any MIA P bass maybe better.

Dont get me wrong you have a great bass and we were only trying to clear this up. If i had the extra cash i would be talking to you. IMO these are the best Fenders i have played..I say Fenders since they were made to Fender specks never Squier. The JV line was exported much less than the SQ line even thou there were less SQ's made. SQ's were widely exported thou and thats why they seam to be more of them in this country than JV series. Both are getting harder to find and more expensive for sure...good luck!
