FS: EBMM S.U.B. Stingray (active, 2-band EQ)

Made in USA.
Low serial (2,XXX), "S.U.B." on headstock, first year of production.

VERY clean condition. There is one ding on the back/side that was touched up with a pretty close match (see photo). Other than that, there are a few tiny marks on the neck/stock, but that's it.

PICKGUARD has been upgraded (original included).
GIG BAG included also.

This thing has the 2-band Stingray sound!

$400 plus shipping.

Pretty guitar and a great price for an American made MM. What does the SUB signify? I'm not familiar with this line. I have a Stingray that I adore and if this plays anything like mine, $400 is hell of a lot better deal than what I paid...

SUB for an import bass. They still made these in the USA with a non stamped bridge and different paint job that was cheaper since they didn't want an import line. That has since changed.

Sounds and plays like a Stingray.

I read somewhere that S.U.B. stood for Sport Utility Bass, not sure if this is true but it works for me. I have a SUB and an SR4 HH. Honestly, if I could only keep one, it would be the SUB. Construction wise, built like a tank and not as heavy as my Ray. The neck on mine is slightly thinner than the Ray, I took the paint off the back of the neck, it was not sticky I just like bare necks. Sound wise, it sounds more Ray like than my Ray. Playability is absolutely great, I currently have flats on it but while I liked them at first now they suck. Anyway, I would highly recommend a SUB to anyone!

I have both a Stingray and a SUB
the SUBs are built more for punishment and the 2 Band EQ is more beefy and in your face. I think the 3 band Stingray pre adds more finesse but if you need more battle axe than samurai sword in your bass sound this is it

Great bass and a ridiculously great price on this bass!

Sorry, but no trades on the SUB. I need the money.
The only thing that might tempt me is a black Epi Ripper, which I have irrational gas for. But, I probably couldn't even afford the shipping for a trade right now.

These are insanely good basses for the money. I just helped a friend acquire one. He wanted the 2 band EQ in a reasonably priced package.

I have never heard him praise a bass so highly and he's had a LOT of basses. A LOT of them were US Musicmanses. This replaced a 2006 Stingray 4H and he wouldn't look back if you tried.

This is a killer deal on a really nice example of one of these basses. If you are looking for the Stingray Classic, but don't have $1,900 (or need a Seafoam Green paintjob), you should buy this.

These are great basses. I had this model up until recently ( Rojo412). It had the MM tone by the truckload. I only let her go due to S.H.S. (Small Hand Syndrome). I still have a S.U.B. Sterling in my collection love it's ergonomics and have really become fond of the MM tone now. If this plays and sounds as good as the two S.U.B. basses I have owned some lucky TB'er is going to get one sweet bass for an awesome price. Free bump for an amazing bass and deal.

Nice bass. I used to own two, it about killed me to let one go. I had the other refinished by Marty Bell. It's the real deal, to the point of cutting into the sales of the more expensive models and MM had to discontinue it.

It's really hard to find a pickguard cut for the SUB. The screw pattern is just a little different from a typical 'Ray. I'm guessing that's a custom-made PG (I had to have one made for mine). Bonus.
