FS EBMM Sterling W/ matching HS SOLD

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD.

I acquired this beautiful piece several months ago and due to owning three other EBMM Sterlings, it doesn't ever get used. Has a Nordstrand pickup in her currently, but I've got the original as well. Trans Red finish with matching headstock! Near mint condition. I'll check over her when i get home today and report any dings but to my knowledge there are none. Pics are from my iPhone but I can take better ones if needed. The red finish is actually a deep red. I call it blood red. It's nothing like my red Fenders. You can see in the pic without flash its truer color compared to the standard Fender Red of my '80 P to the right.
$950 shipped with MM case
$925 shipped in universal hard case
Add $75 if you want both pickups or take your choice of either.
You will also get your choice of pickguard. The one on it looks great, I believe its abalone styled with greys, blacks and hints of purple. I also have a white ice and possibly black.
Looking for cash on this but I'll entertain trades so long as they're Fender (a nice PJ would be great, especially a new Deluxe. No Jazz basses unless they have a P in the neck position!), EBMM (will take a Sterling HH or HS preferably, already have two more 4H) or maybe Gibson (Grabber or Ripper, preferably black) and they must have maple neck/fretboard! will also consider tube amps, no hybrids, no class D.

Took a few more shots of it. With the flash and without. Anyone who has ever photographed a red bass knows that its hard to get the true color. My iphone is actually doing a pretty good job on the pics without the flash. Its been raining here in MD and will be for the next 5 days so I can't get any good sunlight shots outdoors.

Question...

Do you know what the weight is? I've been looking for a Musicman under 9 pounds and they're hard to find.

Thanks.

I can try my bathroom scale but its not the most accurate. I would guess its around 9 to 9.5 pounds. You pretty much wont find a MM thats under 9lbs. I will check it out and report back.

My house flooded last night, someone please buy this. Reasonable offers will be listened to, worst I can say is no/i'll think about it.

According to my $25 bathroom scale, it weighs in at 9.8lbs. Pretty standard for a Sterling.

Can anyone describe the tonal difference between the Nordstrand and MM pickup? I'm familiar with the MM. Thanks.

A Standard Stingray...alnico magnets in parallel
A Standard Sterling...ceramic with phantom coil, with a switch for Serial/Single coil/Parallel. As a rule the Sterling pick-up has a more mid-range, nasally "bark" to it than a Stingray. Whereas the Stingray alnico magnets tend to be more "musical" and harmonic, with a powerful low-end.

The MM4.3, which Nordstrand has now discontinued, was the perfect pick-up for those who prefer the smaller dimensions of the Sterling, but want the smoother more mellow sound of alnico magnets.

If I still owned a Sterling, I would ONLY use them withe the Nordstrand MM4.3!!

Yeah, you guessed it, this used to be my Sterling!!

Interesting...thanks for the info.

I'm in a quandry because I love the sound of the Musicmans, but as I said, the weight is an issue for me...call me girly man if you like, but I gig a LOT and I've owned both a Stingray and a Sterling HS, and I know from experience the nice tone doesn't outweigh the pain in my shoulder after 4 hours of playing it.

This one is a beauty though - have to meditate on it!

It is a little more mellow in the mids compared to the stock pickup. I actually prefer the stock mm pickup because Im a mid growly junkie, but the nordstrand has great tone as well. Switch it to single coil mode and you can get a damn close Precision tone.

The last one I saw was a Classic series and it was 8.9lbs. What most people don't realize is that 9lbs on a Sterling doesn't feel like it because of it's smaller body. Keeps the weight centered and close to your body.

Damages to my house have gone into the thousands. Make me an offer that's reasonable.
