As the title says, this was indeed my first bass. Purchased it from a pawn shop in San Francisco, CA when I was sixteen years old. Time hasn't been too kind to the old girl - there are some dings and cracks, the hardware is tarnished and the input has been a little fuzzy. But it's a great bass for beginners/those who want a project. $80 takes it... I don't have a case right now but could probably rustle one up if it helps sweeten the deal.
Ah! I had the Jazz Bass version "Rock Bass" which was my first bass. They were actually pretty solid basses! Interestingly, mine had very few dead spots, even on the 7th fret D on G.
Good luck with it!

I don't want to tell you what to do with your stuff....but man, keep this bass.
There are TONS of us who wish we would have kept our "first bass" no matter the brand or condition.
