Up for sale is an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV. The bass is still in mint condition. I'm asking $375 shipped or best offer and includes a hardshell case. It's less than a year old but I've got to sell it. There are no scratches on the bass and with any T-Bird you know the tone your going to get out of them. The tone is awesome and this Epiphone has great quality. The pictures don't do the bass justice because this is a beautiful looking bass. There are some minor scratches on the case but nothing out of the ordinary. I will only ship within the Continental US. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I want it bad....but I keep thinking I would like the passive version better. Is there somewhere I could listen to the difference between the pro and standard? Or you could talk me into the pro.

Like others have said the epi pro is a better bass than the standard because of a few reasons. It has a nicer neck, more tonal options and feels better made in my opinion. You can do more with this bass than your standard epi t bird because of the tones but you can still get that classic t bird sound if you're looking for it. I demoed the epi t bird pro vs the standard epi t bird in guitar center and went with this version of the bass because of those reasons. I did a quick search on youtube to see if I could find anyone demoing the two side by side but found nothing. If your guitar centers has both you can do what I did.
I have been interested in one of these for some time...shops never have any in stock to try out. Curious about the five string. Does the active electronics take away from the traditional 'thunderbird' sound?

In my experience with the T-Bird Pro you can get the traditional thunderbird sound, but you can also get a wide array of different tones with the active pickup. So to answer your question, no the active electronics don't take away from the traditional thunderbird sound. I have never played the 5 string version so I can't vouch for that one.
Thanks for the info. I think I would end up cutting her up by putting some Thunderbucker Pros in her and either ditching the preamp or throwing in my favorite Aguilar
What kind of case does it come with? What kind of strings?

I purchased a hardshell case for mine and ordered it online so I'm not sure what type of case would come with it since they shipped it in the hardshell case. The strings that came on it were some crappy generic strings so I put on a set of Rotosound R-66's on the t-bird and it sounded killer.
As a previous owner of one of these
(I sold mine to cause I needed some money)
I can honestly say that this is a great instrument. This is a great deal and well worth the money.
