The Macassar ebony board imparts a very articulate tone that is perfect for slap or finger style. I think it adds enough additional stiffness over a maple board that the b is much stronger than the fbass I had with a maple board. I prefer the sound of this one to my mable fb fbass I had. I bought this one off tb and decided to sell my Spector (
FT: Spector NS-5XL Beautiful Buckeye Burl USA! ) to offset the cost. I've gotten sentimental and want to keep the Spector so this one has to go.
