FS feeler: 1982 Fender Bullet Bass (USA)

Sign in to disble this ad
EDIT: pics of actual bass and more info is now added in later posts.

Checking to see if there's any interest in this....I've had the neck on another bass, but might put the original Bullet body back with it to sell as an all-original bass instead. I will add more details later, as well as actual pics, but for now here's the basics: '82 (approximately) US-made, 34" scale, all original. Has wear, pickguard cracked at the jack just like almost all of them. GREAT neck. Feels like your favorite vintage P neck, only with a Tele headstock.

Here's a pic of what it looks like, but not the actual bass. More later. Asking price is $375 shipped to lower 48.

If I hadn't just bought my '84, I would be very interested in this. I think there is a small but strong fan base for these things. $375 shipped seems right, but does that include the original HSC? BTW, pickguards are available and I just made one for mine so they are not that difficult to fab up if a guy has patience. It's the difference between paying $50 vs. $15. Anyway, good luck with this one - I stongly recommend!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Unfortunately this price doesn't include the case - I don't have it. And regarding the p/g, you can get replacement ones, but of course it's perfectly playable as is. Only a cosmetic thing. I think if you look at what the USA Bullets have sold for recently (in various conditions), this price is right where it ought to be.

And actual pics coming soon!

... Just to clarify from one of the earlier comments as not to confuse .. there is a Squier version of this, and a Fender version ... both receive excellent raves from their owners ... however, if I am correct, this is a Fender version, and IMHO is actually priced below what I see them selling for on Ebay and elsewhere when shipping is included ...

Yes, thanks for that. It's true that there was an MIJ Squier version of this that came later. I also had one of those, and they're both amazing basses for the money. But this is the USA Fender version (which was made from about '82 to '84).

And here come the pics......other things to note: Someone scratched the "Bullet Bass" wording off the headstock so now the decal only has "Fender" and the serial number. You can see scratches where the other words were. Also, since this neck was on an different body and now is back with the original, I haven't set the bass up. I'm sure any buyer would want to set it up to his/her taste, but I'm equally sure that it could be done well.

Bottom line: if you want a pristine collector's piece, look elsewhere. But if you want a Fullerton-era Fender that is strikingly similar to a Precision from that same era (but hundreds of dollars cheaper), then this is for you.

Forgot to put in the description:

Neck width at the nut is 1 5/8".

And unfortunately I don't have an accurate enough scale to give you the weight.....but I would say it's comparable to a couple P basses I've had, which were both between 8 and 9 lbs. That's a semi-educated guess.

Very nice bass! And agreed, the USA Bullets of course bring more money and weren't called Squiers, if I am remembering that correctly. Good luck with your potential buyer ... (Mine BTW, is a Japanese Squier)

the decal is one of the best parts of these basses, awsome price and they sound AWESOME! espeically with a set of brighter flats, pure classic tone. dont change those pups they are what make the bass.
