FS Feeler: black/maple 1983 Fender Precision (MIJ "JV series" model PB 57-70)

Must. Stop. Looking. At. Classifieds.

Ok, so I told myself this P was a true keeper. It has the nicest 1-piece maple neck I have had the pleasure of playing. I have owned a lot of Ps (including Fender CS, MIJ E series, SQ Squiers, Skyline 4464, etc) and the neck on this one may be the best of the lot.

I'm nuts for even considering letting this one go... but lately I keep running into some special instruments. I just scored a 1980 hog/ebony wunkay that might fill my P slot; obviously not the same, but in the neighborhood and more versatile (I've been missing my wunkay!).

May be looking at a rare instrument locally this week. If it calls to me, I'll probably need the space and $... Hence the feeler.

The JV is a 57 reissue; all original except a red tort guard (really sets it off nicely!), babicz full contact bridge, and one matching replacement tuner (reverse hip shot); original bridge and tuner included. Pics show dunlop straplocks, but have original buttons too.

Japanese pickups sound great. Thin neck, low action, killer playability ... I haven't dared touch the setup as it arrived dialed in perfectly! And the bass weighs under 8 lbs!!

Given condition, quality, and rarity, let's say $745 OBO.

Hi res pics here.

Easily worth more, but buyers' market...

7-26-83 penciled on neck per previous owner. I haven't had a need to remove it. I will verify before closing a deal if necessary.

WOW...that's a nice one. I second the "must stop looking at classifieds" statement....quick! Before I make a rash decision!

Free Bump But I'd like to see you keep it. You'll miss a rare JV once it's gone. I honestly would buy it but I have 5 Bass projects I'm building plus the 3 in My Sig. GLWS

Thanks for the bump and reality check... I probably should keep it... And still may. But she has some competition arriving this week ... And unfortunately I'm not in a place to collect right now.

Does 57 Reissue mean 1 3/4" neck, or is it 1 5/8"?
