FS: Early 80s SQ Fender Squier Japan Precision w/Hipshot Xtender - PRICE DROP

Sign in to disble this ad
*SOLD* Up for sale is my early 80's Squier Japan Precision Bass. This one has an SQ serial number, and the shop I originally bought it from dated it at 1983. All original, with no mods. In amazingly clean condition for being almost 30 years old, with no major nicks or dings. The only major one is a small chip in the poly on the bottom edge not far from the strap button, but that's all I could find. Neck is nice and straight, and frets have plenty of life. It has some extremely light buckle rash on the back, but nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage instrument. Also has some swirling on the pickguard. If you're in the market for a really nice P for the money, you can't go wrong with this one. Anyone who reads TB knows how great they are.

Also included is a vintage early model Hipshot/Schaller Xtender installed on the E string key. I was lucky enough to find an Xtender for this bass that already had an authentic "aged" finish, and it matches the slight aging of the original tuners quite well. Tuning key has "Hipshot" printed on one side (impossible to notice from a distance), and "Schaller" stamped on the back plate. I will also include the original tuning key.

No case included, but will be packed well.

Asking $525 $450 shipped via PayPal anywhere in the CONUS. If you don't want the Hipshot, price will be $400 shipped. Any questions, please feel free to PM.

Halloween bump and price drop. $450 shipped with the Hipshot, $400 shipped without it. Someone please take this off my hands before I have to resort to Ebay!

What kind of neck is on this one?

What are the dimensions/width at the nut?

Is it a slim neck profile, or a thick "C"?

What about body weight?

Oh and do you what wood the body is made out of?

Thanks.

According to the Squier Japan site (21frets.com - guitar information and forum about JV - Japanese Vintage fender squier stratocaster guitars, squier telecaster and basses), the neck radius is 7.25." The nut measures one notch over 1 5/8" on the measuring tape, and it's a pretty comfortable neck to play. Body wood is alder.

I'll find out the exact weight later today, but it's one of the lighter P's I've played. I wish I could keep it, but I need the cash! I'll get back to you on the weight.

Weight is 8.75 lbs on the FedEx scale. Without the Hipshot, you could probably subtract an ounce or 2.

Weekend bump. Will have to send this one to EvilBay soon if I don't find a buyer on TB. This one's every bit as solid (in my opinion) as a USA P from the same year, and it's at least 1/3 of the price!

Bump. Quite a bit of interest on this one, but no one's pulled the trigger yet.
