Hi,
Thought I would see if I can sell this as a full project before parting it out on the Bay.
Electra Corsair body (hand contoured)
Custom Moses composite Ric neck with MOP Sharkfin inlays
GraphTech graphite nut
Bart 6RT & 6RC PUPs
Bart 4.7A PreAmp
Black Hipshot Ricky cloverleafs
Black Hipshot Ricky replacement bridge (brass)
Black All-Parts pickguard
Black Pickguardian bridge PUP surround
Black Dunlop flush-mount straploks (strap included)
Custom lightning bolt TRC
Coffin Hardshell Case
DR Black Beauties
The neck alone cost me $603, and as stated, it is the world's first and only Ricky graphite neck. I commissioned Moses for this and to be honest, it's the best part of the bass. Quick truss adjustments, fast board, and very high quality.
I'm embarrassed to mention how much time and $$ went into this, which is why I'll have no problem parting it out if nobody is interested.
Here are some caveats in the spirit of shooting straight:
As of last week, I have no output whatsoever. I was over-ambitious with the electronics in regard to the size of the electronics cavity so it's really tight. I went to tune it the other day and felt resistance plugging in, but muscled it in anyway. *Poof*, no output. I think I may have popped a wire, and I'm so over this project that I have no interest in fixing her. I'm sure a good tech could right the situation, but that isn't in the cards for me at this point.
Also, I'm not happy with my finish. Sure it photographs great, but, as my first full-scale solo finish, I'm not happy. I was impatient (this is a year in the making) and it probably could have been wet-sanded (@ 2000 grit) and buffed much better than I gave her (plenty of color to do so). So it shows some orange peel here and there, and some inconsistencies in the body work. The cheap All-Parts PG is shows some blemishing for some reason.
Two feet away, this thing looks killer...I'm just a perfectionist, which is why I now send my bodies out to a pro.
There is a slight crack in the finish at the upper-bout neck joint (tight fit), it's hefty (I'd estimate at 10lbs at the most), and the Bart active pre-amp is LOUD. Louder than my EBMM actives. I would also guess that the tech that installed the electronics neglected to place a ground under the bridge either, as it is noisey. The Jazz control nobs do not fit perfectly either.
Have I talked you out of it yet? LOL! It is a HOT MESS, but indeed one of a kind. It just needs some TLC done right. And at the very least, you could flip the parts and make a tidy little profit IMO.
Asking $700 shipped which is a great deal for a 'Faker enthusiast considering the top-shelf parts in use here.
