FS: Hartke/Vaccaro Aluminum Neck 4 and 5 string porn!

!!BIG PRICE DROP!!

For sale are my Hartke XK4 and XK5 basses. Both are in amazing condition and pictured below.

A little info about the basses:

These were made the same time as Vaccaros and Larry used the Vaccaro aluminum necks with the same wood neck shell for a more natural feel. As with the Vaccaros, these lummie necks are adjustable which is a plus.

The KX4 and 5 have rosewood finger boards and Hartke pickups with active electronics. The XK4 fearures a P/J configuration and the XK5 features the same electornics but with a J/J pickup configuration.

Both are black and feature heavy duty brushed aluminum pickguards which look great.

Basses are nicely balanced, highly responsive and sound really great. Tons of fun to thumb and pop on especially but you can also dial back the active eq and get a more traditional sound out of them.

Only issues- jack on the 4 is a little noisy, NBD, and the stacked pot on the 5 needs to be tighted, NBD.

I am thinking $575 $495 $475 OBO for the 4 string and $675 $595 OBO for the 5 string with an extra $20 for each if shipped to Mountain or Pacific time zones. This is way less than the asking price of Vaccaros these days. International sales will be considered provided we can agree on the additional costs for overseas shipping

Pics of both basses below. If you have nay interest or questions, let me know. Thanks!

Would also consider a discount if someone wants to buy both of these at once...

Interesting... as I have a small aluminum collection.
I've often thought of getting another Kramer.
I've never seen these before. When were they made?
Thanks KC

I believe these were first made in 1999. Larry Hartke was really proud of these. I bought these after playing his at the Sam ash in Manhattan a couple of years ago.

Wow! I have an XK-4 but yours are in incredible shape. Definitely a cool sound to have. They ring like a piano.

Bump. Taking best offers. If you are curious about aluminum neck basses this is a great and inexpensive way to dip your toe in the water. These are WAY less expensive than the Kramer lummies and a small fraction of the going rate for Travis Bean basses.

Try it. You WILL like it!

So tempting! I dig my 5er, but money is tight and I'm not sure what to trade for the 4. Here's what I did with my 5 string: http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/4083/vacc51m.jpg

Whoa. Very cool. How did you cut the headstock? Or was that a Vaccarro branded neck?
