FS Feeler: Heartfield DR 4 Blue (Poor Man's Wal)

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is my Heartfield DR-4 four string bass in Blue with gigbag included.

I got this one recently in trade this one recently to have a backup to my often played DR4 in graphite finish. This one needed lots of setting up and cleaning which I provided to great results.

That said I am thinking of letter her go as I have GAS that never stops and now have eyes for a pretty expensive bass (Gretsch Braodkaster).

I absolutely love these Heartfields. They were created and manufactured in Japan in the Fujigen factory for Fender (around 1990/1991) who was looking to expand their line of "design forward" instruments to compete with the likes of Ibanez, etc.

These basses are some of my favorites to play and the best buy out there in "vintage." This bass features two noiseless jazz pickups designed by EMG, Volume, blend, tone and an active /passive switch. In passive mode the tone control is just that. in active mode the tone control is a mid sweep which creates that very active tone that Wal's are know for. Kind of a "mwah" as you sweep the frequencies. Like the Wal, this also features an XLR output jack.

The tone of the bass itselff is also incredible. The bass features a "tri-lam" neck which features a layer of graphite compsoite between the neck and fingerboards. This eliminates dead spots without sacrificing the warm tone of wood.

The bass is lightweight, well balanced and has nice wide 19mm string spacing with one of the fastest neck profiles ever.

This bass is in very good overall condition. There are some dings here and there as pictured.

The caps to a couple of the knobs are missing. This is very common to these knobs but the good news is that they are a stock item at Allparts so you can get exact OEM replacements if this bothers you visually.

I am asking $375 shipped in the CONUS for this bass. Paypal is no problem.

If you are an international TB-er or otherwise outside the CONUS, please contact me first so we can see if a sale is feasible and on what terms. Shipping is much more expensive so we would have to come to an agreed upon price.

Pics are below. Enjoy!

Thanks.

RBM

The obligatory "I really hope this doesn't sell but I should probably be responsible and bump it anyway" bump!

Anyone have a cool semi-hollow bass to trade? I can throw in cash from my side for an upscale model. Just a thought. Others are welcome though those that know me know that I prefer Japanese made basses. Thanks.

I owned one of these briefly. Great basses. Free bump. I wouldn't mind owning one again but I'm broke and don't have anything worth trading.

A DR-4 was the 3rd bass I owned, it actually caused my girlfriend at the time to break up with me because I spent money on the bass instead of saving for our wedding. I definitely made the right choice, because I've been married now for 16 years to a great woman who supports my instrument obsessions.
I loved the way it played, but never got the sound I was looking for.
This bass will make a good player for someone out there, thanks for the memories. Bump.
