FS / FT Feeler: Jazz Deluxes, American and Squier

Well, as much as I'd love to keep both of these basses, I kind of stuck my neck out a little far. I got a great deal on some stuff and hoped to sell the amps I didn't need so I could keep the basses... but it's not looking great, so I have to post these up.

I don't want to part with either, but one has to go.

First up, the Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V
Dubbed the "Squierdowsky" by me, it's been transformed from the blah, basic SADJV to a beast!
Sadowsky humcancelling pickups, an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp (18v) with passive tone control added, a bypass switch (active/passive) and a Series/Parallel switch. It is destined to get a sweepable mid as well, however the parts are taking forever to arrive.
It sounds like a Sadowsky with more versatility. The neck is great, frets are great, the bass is amazing. I guarantee it sounds worth more than it can sell for.

Considering $450 shipped with a Warwick Rockcase, US48 only. (better pics to come)

I have reshaped the pickguard since... and it looks like crap. It was never screwed in, so don't worry about markings. I will include it, but it doesn't look great.

SECONDLY, the bass I just got, 2002 American Deluxe Jazz V

Ash body (I believe), pao ferro fingerboard on maple neck. All stock, fixed all minor issues (so it has a new jack and plate). Strung it with Ken Smith strings from my other bass and they have a lot of life left. Some chips in the paint, but nothing serious or ugly.
Includes molded case which is in ok condition, not great. No case candy.

Asking $950 shipped in the US48.

Don't want to sell either and I won't be pulling the trigger JUST YET, but if interested and patient, PM me.

Better pics of the Squier... the better ones are pre-hackup of the pick guard...

And the Squier is 10.8 lbs, Fender is heftier... 12.2, however, I want a second opinion.

LAST OFFER:

Squier - $450 shipped and will include another pickguard (not hacked up!).

Fender - $950 shipped. Could use a tiny bit of nut adjustment (little low on the E and A strings, a shim would fix).

This is my last posting on these, then I keep. Just played the Squier last night, it kills! The Fender is nice too, but the upgrades on the Squier make it sound ridiculous.

Okay, I lied... I will post again.

Decided I will put the feelers out to see if anyone wanted to trade.

First off, I'd like to just speak my piece on these both, honestly and openly...

The Squier is an insanely great sounding bass. It is inexpensive, yes, but it beats the tone of pretty much 90% of the basses I've ever picked up at QUADRUPLE the price. It has options that even the nicer ones I've played can't touch tonally. I guarantee that the sound of this bass makes it worth double what I'm asking... if it only didn't say SQUIER!

I am getting another pickguard for it and adding the Mid Sweep control. I will replace the tone pot and cap with something a little cleaner. It will be the best it can be, minus some lighter tuners (reduce HS weight).

The AM DLX is a really nice bass. I think the look and playability is top notch and as it sits here, I continue to make plans for its upgrade...
However, at the same time, sitting next to this bass is another AM DLX that has been with me for years as my absolute favorite bass. EVER! So it's not getting quite the inspiration for upgrade.
On one hand, I want to try a different pre and see if that makes me like it more. I know I love the way these basses feel and adding upgrades is more easily A-B'd on 2 very similar basses. BUT!...

There are other kinds of basses out there. They will not have to be compared as harshly to another, practically exact bass. So I kind of want to trade it off for something a little different. Maybe test the waters of other, less "Exactly the same" and more "similar, but different" types.

If you are interested, I will consider trades for either bass or both together. Just PM me if interested.

Don't know what I'm looking for EXACTLY, but will say, not looking for:

6 strings
4 strings
Fretless
Super expensive basses that require me to add more money
Super cheap basses that need a ton of work/upgrades
Anything that's completely screwed up (unless it's a sweet deal)

Liking the thought of:

Musicman 5 string
P Bass Deluxe 5 string
Something like a lower-end boutique-ish Jazz with upgrades
Warwicks - Not Corvettes, cheapos, or single pickups

Open to offers, worst I can say is no!

4 + 1 and it's the 4th pic from the bottom.

Oh, and I took the neck off the American Deluxe and it has a neck dated 2004. Weird!

Allow me to chime in and say the squire has a 4-1 tuner config. I ripped this photo from another rojo412 thread:

Notice the sweet string tree upgrade...I wonder where he got that?

Am Dlx is getting traded!

Squier is still available as of now. Still waiting on parts for Mid Freq and PG, but it will get done.
Also, focussing on SALE more than TRADE on the Squier as well. I have some stuff getting fixed and upgraded, so this is on the block for now.
