I am putting this out there to see if I can facilitate the quick purchase of a second Lakland DJ5. So here is my wonderful 2000 Modulus Q5. Serial # 000257. Regular 17mm spacing. Not 100% of the year because it's at the practice house so I will have to get the serial number. I think 2005 from memory but will get that info here ASAP. It does have a truss rod. The normal (and very few) body swirls and dings from normal use. I just installed all new hardware when I got it because the gold hardware was a bit tarnished and I preferred black anyway. It now sports genuine, hard to find, Gotoh Res-O-Lite 350 tuners. Hipshot bridge and Gotoh knobs like it would have had originally. Plays beautifully and is perhaps the best playing bass I have ever owned. Gorgeous deep quilt. Modulus does some of the best quilt in the biz. Currently loaded with EMG P5 and J pickups withe an EMG BTS System pre. Essentially a P/J. But I can install a set of EMG DC pickups if that is your preference. Your choice. 1 13/16" at the nut. Original, excellent condition Modulus hard case.
FWIW, the Res-O-Lites are 1.4 oz ea or 7.0 oz per set of five. The stock gold Gotoh GB-7 tuners were 2.3 oz ea or 11.4 oz per set of five. That's a 4.4 oz loss from the tuners it originally came with. It isn't much, I know but still a full 1/4 pound removed from the headstock. Additionally, the stock gold covered aluminum Hipshot A bridge weighed 5.3 oz and the new black aluminum Hipshot A bridge weighed in at 5.1 oz.
Bottom line is that this bass is quite light. The exact weight on my brand new digital scale is 8 lb 14 oz. Well over 2# less than my last Spector Euro 5. The difference between them is striking and every time I pick this Q5 up I am stunned by it's lightness compared to what I am used to.
