i'm sure a few of you guys saw my posts in the MTD thread...as new mtd JJ5:
dark cherry burst finish
34" scale
ash body, ash neck, maple fingerboard
bart tct preamp w/active passive switch
bart j pups
black hardware
wenge slap ramp included
this bass was also built with the bfts
you also get a brand new set of mtd nickel strings (currently strung with mtd steels)
hardshell case
i know you guys are weight hounds, but i have no idea what it weighs...it's substantial, but not as heavy as my warwick thumb 6 strings i've had in the past - 9 - 10 pounds, maybe?
i got a few trade offers after saying that it felt a little uncomfortable to me in the body shape/geometry department, as on a good day i'm 5'7", and it just feels big...i also just got a message saying that my eye surgery is approved (after a 5 year wait!), unfortunately i can't get temp assign. duty and i have to make a few plane trips on my dime back and forth...so, i'm putting this guy up for sale only, possibly...
asking $3100 shipped...this is about what i've got into it and is slightly less (i'm pretty sure) than what you would have to pay for a new one... |

from what i understand, yes...i can't remember who's got them, but one of the online dealers has a 4 and a 5...i believe the 4 string is going for like 3,099 or 3,199...can't remember...the 5 is a little more... |

It sounds like the ones that leaked to the dealers were purely built for NAAM and were "one-offs" outside of the Stockton jazz and the ones that went to a couple of other players (Gouche maybe I think heard?).

no, none of that is resolved that i know of...four other basses were made prior to the namm basses that i'm aware of...norm stockton (mine is just like his except the rail between the pickups) got a four and a five, andrew gouche got a 5, and then there were however many namm basses there were...not sure the number...those went to dealers and are all selling for just over $3K...then there was mine that never made it to NAMM...not sure how many in all...i'm pretty sure, though, that ALL of the JJ bodies were cut last year during the summer...i don't think mike has made any more

I contacted Mike T. about these basses and he confirmed that nothing is etched in stone yet on how they will be manufactured, etc., and that the existing JJs on the market are indeed the NAMM basses.
You can read Mike's reply at http://mtdbassenthusiasts.ning.com/p...logPost%3A3122
Cheers,
