FS Feeler: Pre Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray Fretless w Teardrop OHSC

Sign in to disble this ad
I don't know if I can do it, but I have an early B02 serial number fretless stingray. If you want THE Pino Palladino fretless sound, this IS the bass. Date is circa 1980 and guessing the neck is from 1979 given the early serial number.

As this is an early B02, it has the strings through body bridge. According to the retailer that sold this to me, i am the second owner and this bass spent a lot of time under the original owner's bed.

Save for some very subtle finish dulling, hardware tarnish, and the requisite finish checking, this bass is very clean.

The OHSC is in great condition and even includes the leather pouch that came with.

Here are some teaser pics. If I decide to go through with this sale, I will post many more highly detailed pics. Thinking a price of around $2400 would be fair based on previous listings.

Thanks for looking.

Yes it is. Another plus when you decide to go vintage for a fretless 'ray. These older fretlesses havethe mwah you would expect that you just cannot get from the pau ferro boards on the newer fretless. Again, it is the Pino sound.

I've never played one this old but what I like about the Stingray Fretlesses I have played is that they are still funkier than hell. You slap on 'em and they still you give those characteristic slaptastic sounds you associate with a ray.

Certainly not true on most other fretlesses you might venture to slap on.

Still have it and am kind of in love with it, hence no bumpage. If you are interested, PM me.

I am considering putting a trade feeler out about this for an old Wal Pro IIe.
