FS - Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Bass (American) - NOS

Here's the story on this bass. I very recently came across it in a local store, where it has been in inventory since birth in 2006. Thinking I would put this in the closet as a time capsule item (I'm more comfortable with the jazz bass neck), I bought it and did just that. Of course, now I've been tempted by another bass and I decided to put this beautiful, virtually new bass up for sale instead.

This is the American-made anniversary edition, not the MIM one. This one has the S-1 feature and '62 Reissue pickups, which are great. Some people don't like the S-1 - no problem, don't use it if you don't like it. The neck plate (see pics) has the commemorative stamp, and the headstock has the diamond anniversary chip. The plastic is on the pickguard, and all case candy is included intact. The hard case has a silver cloth covering and very, very plush lining with the anniversary label inside. Prefer a tort guard? That can easily be changed - Fender replacement guards are not costly. Nut width is 1.625" and weight is 9 lbs.

Anyway, compared to a new Fender MIA P bass at $1,199 and an American Vintage '62 Reissue at $1,449, this is a good deal for a new bass with some special features. I'm pricing it at $1,075, shipped to the CONUS. No international. Not looking for trades, but you can always try. PRICE DROP to $975.

More yet.
What you see on the back is light reflection. There are no scratches.

Beautiful bass and case. I'd buy it just for that case alone, if I had money...

What does S-1 switch do on P-bass?

Modifies the p/u circuit from series to parallel. Different tone altogether. I think I've used mine once.
