FS: Fender American Deluxe Jazz V, East pre, bound and blocked, LOTTA PICS!!!

2003 Fender American Deluxe Jazz V

Alder body, string thru body bridge
SCN pickups
Neck is from a 2002 Fender FMT Jazz bass, bound and blocked pao ferro board, really nice maple neck
East J Retro Deluxe, wired 9v, black knobs
Aged pearloid guard
Weighs 10 lbs
18mm spacing, 34" scale
22 Frets
Includes Fender FMT case, candy, and truss wrench

This has been my "bass wife" for a number of years and it may be the finest bass I've ever had. And I've had 86 basses!
The tone is dead-on Jazz Deluxe. Perfect for just about anything you need super smooth, super classy J bass tone for. Strong B string, crisp highs, mellow and smooth clarity.
The only reason I'm even thinking about getting rid of it is, I'm into more aggressive sounding basses these days and this just doesn't get angry. I've tried other pickups, got rid of the original pre, but just can't see myself taking drastic measures to get it to sound the way my other basses do.
For what it's worth, I compared this to a LARGE number of basses and it beat them all... Sadowsky, Lakland, Modulus, among others. This beat them for versatility, feel, tone. And I've had others tell me the same.

It's got one tiny chip on the back, a couple small dings on the tip of the headstock, minimal wear and tear. It's been a case queen for a LONG time. It only got taken out to go to the studio, usually. The case has more signs of use, but is not bad for its age.

Here's a cut from the studio.

And here's a scratch track from GarageBand It's not all slap, give it 30 seconds

So, we must part ways. I have to fund something that I'll actually use more and it's a damn shame to see this not getting played.

$1250 + shipping
US only. Prefer money order, but Paypal is a possibility Sorry, no Paypal. It's too expensive. Money order or cashier's check only, sorry.

TRADES: Well, I'm trying to fund/find a VALENTI. So if you've got something like that, PM me.
I can't do 35" scale, so no trades for that. And just so you know, I'm going to be REALLY picky on trades, as I'm trying to eventually end up with something custom.

Bear in mind, this isn't some "copy" neck... it's a top-of-the-line Fender neck.

EAST!!!

And a note...
I see people selling these Am Dlx JVs (or listing them) for slightly less than this, but bear in mind, the preamp alone is $340! And forget about finding the B'n'B neck actually made by Fender. This is a bass that definitely doesn't present itself... well, EVER! So if you like the classy look and versatile preamp, don't miss your chance to snag this. Because if the people who are telling me to change my mind succeed, this will probably never come up again.
So PM me if you are interested, let's talk!
Please include a ZIP CODE.

I recommend you don't sell it. Just buy an additional bass.

I've had several of these, pretty much one of my all time favorite Fenders. I put single coil Seymour Duncans in it, ran PASSIVE and it was aggressive and organic, really nice midrange growl and texture. Still miss that bass. GLWTS

I appreciate all the kind words. Like you, Doug, I've never played a bad one of these. Fender was on top of their game with these Deluxes!
And I could see it being a really nice passive bass as well...

And if I could afford to keep it, I'd do that, though it would still be a shame to leave it sitting. It's a wonderful player!
But an actual wife and not being independently wealthy keep me from getting anything else without losing something I already have.

I've done a lot of back and forth over it, believe me. I just feel like we are different animals now...

I sold every Fender Sadowsky Lull MTD F Bass and build Warmoth Deluxe V now. Custom necks that I shape, pretty much a custom clone of the 22 fret Fender. Scratched my itch.
