I bought this new earlier this year and frankly it is a great bass. As in plays great, sounds great, etc. Classic looks and vibe with a great variety of tones. So why am I selling? Well, bought a Fodera and am in the honeymoon phase with that bass (while my budget is in the divorce phase ).
Not a panic sale though so no low-ball offers and I'm not interested in trades.
2011 Fender American Deluxe Precision (MIA)
Sunburst w/black pickguard
rosewood fingerboard
PJ pups, 3-band preamp with passive option
8.8 lbs
Playability is excellent, tone is excellent as well. Has a new set of Dunlop nickel strings (45-105). Ships in the original Fender ATA case. Pretty much dead mint condition. 8.8 lbs and perfectly balanced.
$1175 shipped in the CONUS. Will include a Levy 3" wide leather strap with the Schaller straplocks installed.

Plus the PJ setup and 3-band eq make it so you can play most anything. If I wasn't knee-deep in Fodera land this bass would be a permanent fixture in the lineup.

This bass actually has a lot of what I'm looking for in a bass - active passive, 3 band EQ, Rosewood board, 21 frets, classic look. After playing a "more substantial" Rob Allen neck, maybe the P neck would be OK.
Can I find a buyer for my Skyline 44-02.....

Is a P/J really the best of both worlds or does one really need a J to pull of the J stuff. I'm guessing the P part sounds pretty good. I'm debating a P (with flats maybe) for traditional jazz, R&B, soul, etc. and a J with rounds for covers, funk, church, etc.
I love the sound of the Rob Allen for traditional jazz, but might get more use from those funds in a P or J or both.
Steve

Can I find a buyer for my Skyline 44-02..... | The nut is 1-5/8" - same as the Rob Allen. Fretwork is excellent. I am not a JJ guy and I really prefer having the P there for the P sound. As for the JJ tone, I like the PJ mix as it has a bit more balls to my ear. http://nostatic.com/mp3/28aug11/magic.mp3 (that may be the Nordy though) http://nostatic.com/mp3/24jul11/use.mp3 (definitely the Fender) http://nostatic.com/mp3/19jun11/cantaloupe.mp3 |

However, I think it sounds good with the J added. Never owned one but have tried them a couple times. They were all cheap basses though so that may have had a part in it. Never tried it with a "good" bass.
Hmm....this and my Rob Allen Mouse would cover a lot of gigs I think. If only I could be sure I don't want/need a 5 string...

$1175 shipped. I'd rather keep it as a backup than sell for less than that. This bass compares favorably with the Nordy I had and even with my current Fodera. Yes, it is that good. Easily the best Fender I've owned and played over the past few years. |

I know, I know. For most of my gigs, my Mouse or any 4 string will do. For things I like to "play along with" at home, I'd like a 5. Nice for CCM stuff as well.
Greg made me a nice offer on that G&L L2500 he has at the shop. Not a J/J but it does have the "K" wiring so in the neighborhood, and they aren't as spendy as some others. Just don't know. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
