FS: Fender AV '62 Jazz Bass LPB

SOLD on eBay

Price drop: $1295 shipped CONUS

Offers?

I need to sell a couple of my basses to make room for a Fender Custom shop '64 Jazz Bass that is on the way. I thought I'd see if there was any interest in this very rare Lake Placid Blue, American Vintage '62 Jazz Bass. It's in near-mint condition. For full disclosure: There are two tiny nicks on the top front near the bottom strap button that are through the paint; they are very small and were on there when I got it. There are some barely noticeable lines around the two screw holes for the bridge/pickup cover that can barely be seen. Included are the two pickup covers, original never-installed felt mutes and "weatherstrip" mute (also never installed), and brown deluxe tolex case. It has a new set of TI Flats on it, but I have the Rounds that came on it and will include them. Weight is 9 lbs. 2 oz. Comes in the Fender Deluxe G&G Brown, w/ Gold interior, Hardshell Case. I'm thinking around $1500 shipped CONUS because of the rarity of this color and condition. PM me if you're interested or have questions. Thanks for looking.

Holy mother of god!!!!! Is there any way you would consider a MMSR5 for this beautiful flower of a bass? I live in NJ myself, you can test drive it if you are interested. =))))

Thanks Bob, but I really need the cash (and the room) to pay for the new bass.

The bass weighs 9 lbs. 2 oz. on my postal scale. I don't know the year. I can't find a control number on the pots, only a part number: 019268. I think they stopped offering LPB around 2004 or 05, but that's a guess.

The date should be penciled on the butt of the neck.

I'll take the PG off and see if I can see it; I won't remove the neck, though.

S/N: V131214. Unfortunately, Fender doesn't list dates for V serial numbers.

If you remove the pickguard, you won't be able to see the date. If you loosen the strings, or remove them, the neck comes off quite easily. Then you can post a pic of the date, and increase the odds BIG-TIME of selling your 62-RI. What if it's a Fullerton? You could get more than 1500.....

Thanks, you make a good point.

I'm sorry, After seeing the serial#, it's not going to be a Fullerton. It's probably a late 90's bass. But still... showing the date would be a good thing. If you feel a little unsure about taking the neck off, you can shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to help.

I didn't think it was a Fullerton because one of the pamphlets that came with it was from Fender's HQ in Arizona. I was agreeing that it might be good to show the date. Thanks.

I always seem to be looking at basses when I should be looking at amps.

This would sure make a great bass for when you get a new amp.
