IT'S BACK! With a new lower price...read the details below, must be sold by thursday morning EST:
Up for sale is my Fender American Vintage 1962 Re-Issue P-Bass.
It's a late 90's model (1997-98), Alder body in 3-tone Sunburst/tort pickguard & rosewood board. Weight is approx. 9 lbs using the bathroom scale method (may be in the high 8 lbs range since a jazz bass I also weighed this way showed up as 9 lbs, but the P-Bass feels lighter). Bought it from a fellow TB'er about 7 months ago (kirkm24), played several gigs with it since, including backing up Percy Sledge (cool guy, btw)...Luv this bass but a medical emergency coupled with a nearly completed Sadowsky NYC is forcing me to downsize.
I have it strung up with LaBella flats (760FL) and with the foam under the bridge it's pure Motown goodness. I also installed a Lindy Fralin replacement pickup last November that I find has a LITTLE more lower mid punch than the fender 62' pickups (it's 5% overwound). There's some small nicks and scratches on the body, but they're only noticable up close, It's apparently been well played over the years (It was like this when I got it 7 months ago). The action is fairly low and plays beautifully.
I'm leaving on a trip on Thursday morning (that's March 17, Atlantic Standard Time) to St. Thomas where i'll ship the bass from there (much cheaper than from the British Virgin Islands, where I live). If I don't sell it by then, the price will have to go up if I have to ship it from home.
$975 $950 $750 + shipping. Shipping to the CONUS is approximately $135 - $160 from The U.S. Virgin Islands. Would prefer to ship to the CONUS, Canada and the Caribbean. Comes with a vintage tweed case shown below (in excellent condition) A MONO Strap and Dunlop straplocks already installed.
PayPal only
No Trades on this one, really need the money right now. Please help if you can.
Older pic from kirkm24 when I bought it, just to show the case:
