FS: Fender Custom Shop Classic Jazz Bass $1600 OBO

Soundclips on my youtube page:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMnd7uJgOZI
Anything with the rosewood fretboard and pearl blocks was done with this bass. More "professional" clips should be up soon.

Up for sale is my Fender Custom Shop Classic Jazz Bass.
I've owned it for a few years now, and despite it being a wonderful bass, I just always end up reaching for a different one instead. I am the second owner of this instrument, but when I got it, It was literally untouched (plastic still on the pickguard, preamp layout sheet still over the control plate, etc). I DO NOT have the original case or case candy that would have come with it if I had bought it new.

Specs:
4 strings
2 piece swamp ash body finished in a beautiful transparent blue
Quatersawn maple neck
21 fret rosewood fretboard with mother of pearl block inlays
Contoured heel for easy access to the upper frets
Fender noiseless jazz bass pickups
Fender Preamp
Fender High mass bridge w/string through the body option
Weighs in at 8 pounds on the bathroom scale

This bass has a tiny ding on the lower horn that I can't get to show up in pictures, but other than that There are absolutely no issues with it all. I'm only selling it to fund something else.

I'm asking $1600 for it.

As far as trades go, I'm not looking for anything in particular at the moment, but these are a few things that catch my eye:
Vintage Gibsons (Rippers, Grabbers, RDs, etc)
Gibson Les Paul bass
Shergold/Hayman basses
Rickenbackers
Anything that's a little quirky (some old guilds, teiscos, basically anything with an unconventional shape)
Just about anything with a vintage/old school aesthetic
Musicman Classic Stingray in candy apple red with a maple fretboard (this one is really specific, as it's probably the next bass I'm going to buy)

Feel free to ask me any questions you'd like.

I'm a terrible photographer:

More pics available upon request.

These basses are incredible! I bet the Geddy you're keeping has some sentimental value to pick it over this...people are attached to their geddy's around here!

After some consideration, I'm not really interested in any trades. I do not have the original case for this, and yes, my Geddy does have some serious sentimental value. That and a set of Lindy Fralins are the only reasons it's my number one.

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question:

What features make this a "custom shop" bass?

This bass was made in the Fender Custom Shop. As far as what sets it apart from other factory fender basses, I'm not 100% sure. It uses quartersawn, as opposed to flatsawn maple for the neck (i might have that reversed), It has a one piece swamp ash body as opposed to several pieces glued together, and other than that it's mostly just the level of craftsmanship that goes into the whole instrument.

Do you have the original Custom Shop certificate of authenticity?

I'm pretty sure that's a two piece ash body. You can see the seam on the backside in one of the pictures. Nice bass though!

I don't have the certificate, but I can get you the serial number if that would help. I have no doubts that this is a 100% authentic custom shop bass, and I think anyone who plays it will agree. The guy that I bought it from still had his Sam Ash Tag saying what it was on it.

Looking at that picture just made me go to my bass and double check. It really does look like it in the pic, but in person I can't see a seam anywhere on it. I'll try to get a better picture by tonight.
