This is a circa 1999 MIM Jazz bass. I bought it new a few years ago. I found it sitting in a vintage guitars shop, dusty behind a stack of $2000+ dollar basses. To my knowledge it had never been played, plastic on the pickguard, etc.
Condition:
Lowdown: The Body is pretty much pristine, with the neck needing some work.
There was a tiny crack in the finish below the neck pocket on the bottom side of the neck, which has been professionally repaired, and I've been assured that it doesn't extend into the body. This happened when the neck was removed to insert a shim when it was being setup at the local luthier. Apparently this type of thing is somewhat common with the thick finishes on the MIM basses.
The reason the neck was shimmed is because there is a little 'ramp' in the neck starting at the 17th fret. I like the action pretty low, so it buzzes above if you play above 15, but I pretty much never do, so it wasn't worth it to me to have the fretboard work done to fix it. I'm not a slapper, so there isn't really any fret wear to speak of.
The screw that's missing (on battery cover) could easily be replaced, but the battery cover never even shifts, so I didn't bother. That was lost one night in a dark venue replacing the battery during a show.

The P-bass is ~ 6months old. It has been my 'sit at the desk' player. So it hasn't been kept in a case. I live close to the bay so there is some patina starting to build up on the nickel tuners, bridge, control plate and knobs. Personally I like it, so i didn't do anything to try and remove it. I think for a 50's style bass it's a cool look especially because this would make such a cool project bass.
Don't be fooled by the Squier name. This bass is incredible both in craftsmanship and vintage tone. $250 SOLD
