The bridge cover was purchased NEW by me and installed a few years ago at Bass Emporium in Austin, Texas by the wonderful staff at the shop. I also had holes drilled for a neck pickup cover but did not ever purchase the cover. However, the holes for the neck pickup cover already existed in the ORIGINAL PICKGUARD. Quote:

The Fullerton guards were the iconic 'pepperoni tort'. | CACA DE KICK: It's the ORIGINAL PICKGUARD. There are no additional screw holes nor none not being used. If any one has concerns, I am happy to send you pics of the body top with the pickguard removed. I've never heard of the pickguard described as "iconic" nor "pepperoni tort," but it certainly matches the description.
Thanks for the interest. I will modify the ad as soon as I can. To clarify, the only mods are the strap buttons upgraded to Dunlops and the bridge cover installed and holes drilled for a neck pickup cover. According to the research I have done on Fender "Fullerton" basses, the pickup covers were not installed at the factory, but rather shipped as case "candy" for the buyer to install if wished. Again, my apologies for any confusion and the mistake on my part for not noting this in the original ad. I will correct as soon as I can figure out how to do it. |

The links in your first post show the orangey tint and tight pattern typical of these pickguards. I had noticed the difference when I first saw the ad but didn't want to mention it as it is easy to misidentify these details due to variation in picture colours, monitor displays, etc.
That said, it really doesn't look at all like an original 'pepperoni' tort, as they are commonly referred to. It could easily be a replacement one cut to fit the RI hole pattern, for example. Sorry to butt in to a thread that doesn't concern me, but these details are important for dating and verifying the authenticity of models that have a premium collector's value.
All the other features look legit and point to this being an authentic early Fullerton AV reissue, IMO. |

Perhaps these photos will help. |

That picture shows the true colour of the original guard, and how different it looks from your original photos. As I had mentioned it can be very tricky to judge from photos, I shouldn't have gone out on a limb like that.
Good luck with the sale- I have a Fullerton P and it is amongst the very best ever made by Fender and easily compares to my vintage ones. |
