FS - Fender Hwy 1 Precision project Bass - 8 lbs

OK, so here's the background: due to car wreck injuries,
I am plagued with back/neck/shoulder problems. I'm not
ready to quit playing, but I have found that 8lbs is about
as much bass as I can comfortably wear for any period of
time. So I typically pick up lightweight bodies when they
present themselves, then carefully put them together with
a target weight of 8lbs. I also have an eye for classic Fender
combinations, such as 'burst/maple/tort.

I always get my wood from reliablefender on ebay, since
he accurately lists the weight of bodies. Plus they are brand new.

So, this one started as a brand new Hw1 Precison body. If
you look at item 190368432413 for example, you can see
he gets around $329 for something like this. I then added
one of the new maple necks that Fender has started using.
See item 190368543946 for example ($259). The neck
feels kinda "B-ish" to me.....1 5/8" and roundish instead
of that wide and flat "C" feel.

Rest of the bass is all quality stuff, mostly Fender: '62 RI
threaded bridge and cover. '62 RI pickup. Tort guard from a
Fender FSR Precision (no truss rod notch and the color kinda
sits nice on the matte Hwy 1 finish). Tuners are Hipshots.
Electronics are CTS/Switchcraft and the control cavity is
sheilded with the copper tape. All good stuff. What was a
pleasant find was that the neck and body mated nicely
(that don't always happen) with a good tight fit.

Overall condition is still excellent, but it has been played.
There is one li'l edge clunk you can see in the image of it
sitting on my scale. Some marks on the back that I could
not get to photograph. I got a good low action with XLs on
it. The '62 RI pickup sounds like a good P bass should. I'm
playing mostly G+Ls lately, so this one could use a home.

I'm looking for $450 shipped in a gig bag, to the lower
48. Paypal preferred. Not really looking for trades since I need the bucks.

Any questions, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

Nice, you basically hand-picked quality parts to put together a bass that people HOPE for when they buy a new one from Fender.

Sorry to hear about your accident, nice bass though.

That is a very sweet axe, great price, and nicely put together by spike42. Surprised it took even 5 hrs. to sell. Love it when folks know what they have, know how to price it to sell, and just get on with it, ya know?!
