FS: Fender Jaco Tribute Fretless: *UPDATE* *Price Drop*

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is a Jaco Fender Jazz Fretless circa Janurary 2000. This is not the Custom Shop Relic but the Tribute Series. It has a beautiful aged amber tint on the neck and a nice nitro finish. The Pau-Ferro fingerboard has very little wear from previous owner using rounds but you don’t notice it when playing.
It is all original except for the following;
The bridge saddles were changed to modern single slot from a MIM bridge. (Originals included)
The bridge pup died and has been replace with a USA Fender Original Vintage. (Original Included)
The Chrome volume and tone knobs replace with black Jazz knobs. (Originals included)
Strung with D’addario Chromes.
There’s a small ding on the back shown in the pix and the F on the headstock got messed up by one of those stupid clip-on tuners. And a ding on the fingerboard at the 12th position E string but it doesn’t affect playing.

It comes with all the case goodies and papers as shown in the pix.
The original brown Tolex case shows its age but has not been abused. All the latches and hinges work perfectly and there are no rips or tears inside or out. Played and stored in smoke-free environments.
$1000 shipped and insured to CONUS Paypal or USPS Money Orders please.
Please PM me if you have questions or want further info.
Thanks, Brad.

Looks great with those black knobs..might have to get some for mine. That neck looks like Rosewood to me though, I thought they started the Pau Ferro in like 09'?

Thanks TFFan,
I never liked the dome knobs, even on a PBass.
As to the fingerboard, looking a Fenders website they show the current Jaco model picture with what looks like a RW board. But the description in the specs list it as PF in one place and RW in another.
Regardless, I believe the board on the bass that I have for sale is PF. Or, it's the lightest colored RW I've ever seen on a neck.
For the record, I do not want to mis-represent an item for sale on this or any other forum. So, if anyone has an old catalog from the late 80s early 90s, please chime in and help clear this up. Meanwhile I'll contact Fender CS and see if they can offer any insight.
Thanks again TonyFrankilnFan for pointing this out.
Stay tuned, B.

Update

The following is an email I recieved from Fender that I hope will answer any questions about my bass.

Hi Brad,

From the serial number, T900232 was made in January 2000. Your bass will have a Pao Ferro fretboard because we changed to Rosewood in August 2007.

Best regards,

Brad.

I called Scott up and he said mine was made in April 08'!? yet these are 1000 serial numbers apart..wow. Not much difference in fingerboards as well. Anyway, BUMP for the sickest fretless a man can own.

T9009xx on mine....lighter Pao Ferro board. I think, if I remember hearing correctly that Sadowsky call this a Morado.. Here let me "google that for you",..http://www.exoticwood.biz/bolivianrosewood.htm Yup there it is LOL.... Anyways, mine is dang near as close to Custom Shop quality as I've seen....

Whoever get this will be MOST happy I am sure! Bump!
